“25 Days of Living in the Light!”
“Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Matthew 22:37-40
This year for the “25 Days in the Light Project” I decided to use my gift card to provide warm drinks for the people in my local community. I gave my $25, as well as my parents’ match amount, for a total of $50 of warm drinks supplies to the EnKa Society in Winchester. EnKa is a non-profit organization in my town of Winchester, that provides non-perishable food items, household items, and clothing to nearly 100 residents in the local communities nearby. I chose to give it to my local food pantry because I love to know that these items will go to someone who deserves some love in my hometown. After all, God says to love your neighbors as yourself.
One of my favorite things about the holiday season is having a warm cup of tea or hot chocolate with my family by the Christmas tree. It brings me great joy, comfort, and peace to share quiet reflective time as a family. I believe that everyone should be able to feel God’s love and to enjoy those feelings throughout the holiday season, and hopefully, my gift can bring some comfort and peace to other people’s lives. As Jesus says, “Love your neighbor, as yourself!”
