Eight out of eight Confirmation students are hoping that it snows this weekend – a lot!

Me too.

I hope people are safe. I don’t want trees to fall or people to slip and fall on the ice or cars to skid into others on the road.

But what I like about a snowstorm – a big snowstorm – is the solidarity it brings. We’re all talking about the weather now. It seems that we’re all going to the grocery store to pick up bread, milk, and toilet paper that we don’t really need. We’re all checking our snow blowers and shovels and emergency candles. We’re watching radar maps on our phones and checking out which stations seem to have the most up-to-date information.

There’s nothing we can do to make it happen. And there’s nothing we can do to make it not happen. You and I will look outside sometime on Saturday and we will have 8 inches or 5 inches or 13 inches or none. That’s kind of exciting, isn’t it? All of us discovering together!

Despite the best science… Despite the most amazing technology…God’s world still has much for us to discover.

Enjoy the discovery this weekend!

In Christ,

Pastor Jen
