Summer Youth Mission Trip! – Last Day!!! All the crews finished up their projects today. It was super hot, but there were great moments of team work and service! The feeling these kids get from helping others will last all year long!!! I know it does with me. You know you are doing good when one girl said she was sad that she had to finish using the mitre saw! Then another kid said, “This is the biggest thing I have ever built!” And you wonder, did he mean – building his Faith in God, building skills, building on his sense of self, building relationships, building a team, building community, maybe building on the feeling you get from helping others or maybe all of the above! Whatever he meant, you understand that it was a joy to work with these kids! They are all really wonderful people. And there is a tug at your heart when you think how much you are going to miss this trip. And they gave me a mug, and a picture of the group framed with a card that they all signed by themselves! And they all said a prayer at the closing! It was really awesome!!! Such a great trip and I will remember it for a long time!
