Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
Colossians 3:12-15
We included this bible verse as part of our wedding ceremony because it was special to us. When trying to find a verse that addressed love, this one stood out to us as being a very practical way of looking at how to treat one another.
At the time, we liked that it acknowledged various facets of what we consider to be a successful partnership.
Especially right now, this verse reminds us to have compassion and patience for those we love in how they are coping with the state of the world. It reminds us to forgive those around us, even though we disagree with sometimes and that love is the very thing that will keep our communities together no matter what.
