Day 1 – April Vacation Volunteer Camp – The kids spent a great day volunteering at Lazarus House in Lawrence. The shelter there has about 40-50 beds were people can stay as transitional housing. They can stay there, but they need to work and Lazarus House will save their money for them so they can get a place of their own. This is one of the many things Lazarus House Ministries in Lawrence does. The kids and chaperones got a tour of the facility. Then they made a meal of quiche, salad, rolls and cookies for the resident’s there. We got a tour of the food pantry. Then we finished making tie fleece blankets to leave for some of the people there. A big thank you to Suzanne Neuman and Lori Gardner for chaperoning the entire day! And thank you to all the kids who helped out! I really appreciate it!!! You are all awesome!!! And thank you so much for today!!! You all rock!!!
