A cool thing happened this past Saturday over the weekend. As part of Faith’s Annual Service Day, twenty people from our church gathered together at “A Bed for Every Child” in Lynn, MA and made five beds for kids who might need them in and around our communities. A Bed for Every Child’s mission is to identify from any teacher or family that a student doesn’t have a bed to sleep in and they will deliver a bed and mattress to that family free of charge. Imagine not having a bed to sleep in, it would effect your school work, family life, activities… everything. This organization tries to identify and provide for this need by giving kids and families a bed to someone that may need them. We broke into teams of 4-5, and each team made a bed. The materials and instructions and tools were all there for us. No prior experience necessary! We just had to put the beds together. And we even got to stain them white and paint stars and put them on there too! This was part of Faith’s Day of Service Event. There were several projects this week as part of this endeavor. Other projects included Habitat for Humanity, helping to clean up the AVIS trails, making tie blankets for the homeless, making and serving a meal at Bread and Roses and giving to Afghan refuges! I woke up on Sunday and went to church smiling because maybe I had a small part to do with making another’s person’s life better. It was pretty awesome! There but by the Grace of God go I, proud of being a part of these people who want to make life better for someeone else by sharing God’s love! Again, it is pretty great!!! Very grateful for it all!!!
