Will there really be a morning?<\/em><\/strong>

  Will there really be a “Morning”?
Is there such a thing as “Day”?
Could I see it from the mountains
If I were as tall as they?

Has it feet like Water lilies?
Has it feathers like a Bird?
Is it brought from famous countries
Of which I have never heard?

Oh some Scholar! Oh some Sailor!
Oh some Wise Men from the skies!
Please to tell a little Pilgrim
Where the place called “Morning” lies!<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

In my sermon on Sunday I mentioned this poem by Emily Dickinson set to music by Craig Hella Johnson (a link is here: https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=aa9Zx_3K0DA)<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For me, the word which sticks out is \u201creally\u201d\u2026. will there really <\/em>be a morning?  Dare I hope? Dare I believe? Dare I trust in God\u2019s promises?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This song which showed up on my Spotify playlist touched me where I was last week in the midst of the pandemic and in the midst of the rise of the delta variant. Will this ever be over? Will there really<\/em> be a morning? Where does morning lie? Oh that some wise ones from afar would tell me!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The song became my prayer. It became my psalm as I played it over and over again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will there really <\/em>be a morning?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes. As the psalmist says, \u201cWeeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.\u201d (Psalm 30:5b). It\u2019s been a long night\u2026but rejoicing will come. Indeed it will.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
