\"The<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

I always loved school. But even if you didn\u2019t love school, I imagine you have a memory of getting new school supplies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was always something special about opening up a brand new box of crayons. I would try to keep my crayons in pristine condition for as long as I could \u2013 gently coloring on the sides of the tips so I wouldn\u2019t dull them or snap them in half.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was a moment of pride when I advanced from the large kindergarten pencils to the \u201cbig kid\u201d standard size pencils.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were notebooks and the far-too-long time spent deciding on which color for which subject. It seemed like a choice of great importance since I\u2019d be with those notebooks for a full year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were the pocket planners and the erasers and the lunch boxes and the back packs (I think \u2013 I actually can\u2019t remember having a backpack in elementary school).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even if you didn\u2019t care much for school, there was some excitement about getting new school supplies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, Faith is teaming up with Bread and Roses and collecting school supplies for children in Lawrence. The next time you\u2019re in a store or ordering from Amazon, pick up an extra backpack or set of markers and bring them to church by August 14.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When we support education, we support children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
