We use Zoom for our virtual activities. Zoom is easy to use and is absolutely free.

Event announcements are sent by email, so you’ll need to submit the form below if you’re not already on our list of contacts. You can unsubscribe at any time. We do NOT expose your information to anyone else, ever.

Current church members and acquaintances can also use this form to keep their information up-to-date.

Church Access Limited

In a one-week period, three people who use the church regularly tested positive for COVID. For the time being, we must limit the number of people using the church. A schedule for those few persons who must regularly use the facility is in use. At no time is more than one person scheduled to be in the building at any time.

Anyone who needs to enter the building must schedule access with Shauna. You may contact her at shauna@faith-andover.org or text her at 978-204-0249.

Mind, Body & Soul

  • Discussion Group – February 21st

Adult Forum, Sunday, February 21, 10:45 AM

Luther, Bonhoeffer, Black Lives Matter, and the Role of the Church
William Wood, a member of our congregation has written a paper published in this month’s Journal of Lutheran Ethics. He will lead discussion of the paper entitled, “Luther, Bonhoeffer, Black Lives Matter, and the Role of the Church,” after worship on Sunday, February 21. The link to the article is here: https://learn.elca.org/jle/luther-bonhoeffer-black-lives-matter-and-the-role-of-the-church1/

It is a timely article and sure to lead to some good discussion and reflection. All are invited! (The Zoom link will be the same as the worship link – those who wish to participate will be invited to a particular breakout room after worship.)

Call to Action

  • Bread & Roses

Bread & Roses is currently accepting donations of the following items for its outreach program during the pandemic: $10 gift cards for Market Basket, Dunkin Donuts and McDonalds. Also hats, gloves, scarves, handwarmers, flashlights, socks, hand sanitizer, masks, shampoo, soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes.

Contact Tom Baird at tombaird739@gmail.com or (978) 453-2431 to coordinate dropping off your donation or having it picked up. Gift cards or money donations can be mailed directly to Bread & Roses, 58 Newbury Street, Lawrence, MA 01840.

  • Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is taking some small volunteer groups back and have COVID-19 safety protocols in place on the site such as wearing masks, keeping six feet apart, hand sanitizer, etc. We are forming a small group for a Faith Lutheran build day on September 12 at 8 Lupine Road in Andover.  Sign-in will take place from 8:00 to 8:30 am. Contact Tom Baird for more details at tombaird739@gmail.com.

Faith Member Tom Baird, a Habitat for Humanity Site Supervisor, has been lending his expertise to the Merrimack Valley Organization for many years. Our congregation supports this ministry by sharing our time and talents to build homes and build hopes for those families that have gone through the rigorous selection process to qualify for a Habitat for Humanity home. You do not have to be a building expert or have specialized skills to contribute to the projects. There will always be a job for you regardless of your skill level. Faith Members aged 16+ can volunteer the second Saturday of each month at any of the various build projects in the Merrimack Valley area. Learn more about The Merrimack Valley Habitat for Humanity on our “spotlight” page.

  • Social Ministry and the Pandemic

Most of our on-site activities have been shut down. However, there is an even greater need for help.  The cities we center our support, Lawrence and Lowell, have been hit especially hard. Homeless people are especially vulnerable. Some of our partners have started reaching out for help. Contact Mark Morgan at socialministry@faith-andover.org for more information.
